Happy Golden Birthday to me.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Katie, Happy Birthday to me!

Wow, feels rather odd to sing that to myself. Birthday's aren't a huge deal to me but I was OVERWHELMED with all the lovely birthday wishes I received yesterday by a ton of lovely people! It made this girl smile huge!

I spruced up an older dress I've had but have never really wore except just around the house because it was comfy. I am not comfortable wearing tube tops out so I added straps from another dress to this dress. Then added an adorable flower I cut out of some fabric and added fun buttons to it. The back also has a pop of green but I forgot to get a picture of that. My friend Donna took a full length picture of me in it but Lightroom said there was an error with it and I couldn't use it. :( Pout pout pout. Anyways, enough rambling.

And yes Laura, you are most definitely right, I DO live in these earrings.

What'dya think?

My friend Donna invited me on a picnic and park trip for the afternoon so off Leena and I went. Donna felt so bad because she ran a bit late and Leena usually naps midday, but I told her not to worry, Leena has been starting to not nap....Well then I looked in the rearview mirror in the car.
Every party needs a pooper, right?

With a bit of a nap in her we set up our picnic and Donna surprised me with a yummy cake. :)
How cute is that?!

And yummy too!

Oh my how I love when my days are filled with cuties like these ones!
I just want the caption of this one to be, "I'm flying, Jack!"

Oh how I love his hair and that he's learning how to point. He's going to be one soon. Crazy to see how much he's grown in the 9 months I've known him. So sad. Stay little!

After Leena was throughly pooped we went home and watched the Cat in the Hat. That movie cracks me up. If you haven't seen it. DO see it. You won't regret it...unless you don't like funny movies. ;) My lovely husband came home with a funny and *slightly* inappropriate card. hehe Then he proceeded to make me shrimp tempura rolls and CA rolls for dinner. Mmmm. He would also tell me "I'm making it, I'll get that!" followed with some pushing of me out of the kitchen when I started taking care of parts of dinner. He didn't want me to have to cook my own birthday dinner. Gotta love not having "gender rolls" in this household! And when I asked him if I was still pretty at 23 he looked at me like I was insane for even wondering. He answered with, "Of course and then some!" He is so cute and makes me smile. I am so blessed to have him as a husband. It was a good birthday.

Today I got a wonderful package in the mail. Anything with the stamp "Violet Bella" on it is 100% going to please the recipient! Prepare for cuteness overload!

I know, you are jealous!

I cleaned out my closet the other week and sent any item that I just was not 100% happy with to the lovely Laura from Violet Bella because I knew she could breathe new life into the items. Check out this new shirt in her shop out of one of my "rejects." ;)
Buy it here! (And I was having problems with links so if it doesn't work then here's just the plain ol link. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=43437815)

Another exciting part of my day was starting to decide on colors for my house. Joey gave me the go ahead to do whatever it is I please since colors do not effect him and his mood like they do to me. I am bored with my house and I am craving color. So this house will not know what hit it! The tentative color list of all that will be involved in this house is as follows:
1. Teal
2. Red (my couch)
3. Orange
4. Yellow
5. Purple
I am sure there will be more thrown in as accents for decorations but it will be so funky and fun! My sister suggested wallpapering the wall in my living room behind my couch in old book pages and she's coming out in 2 weeks so she is going to help me do exactly that! I can't wait. I can't wait to have a house that reflects mine and my family's personality. It will be more conducive to creating I think and will be so much happier to be in. I will post photos of course through this journey I am taking! I can't wait to see where it takes me! A thanks to my sister Kimmy and to Maryam Salassi (who is an amazing artist, please please please check out her awesomeness) for helping me narrow down colors and bounce ideas off of!

I hope you all had a wonderful day! Please don't ever be afraid to just be YOU. I am so happy I am not afraid anymore to be true to myself and to just be ME. Trust me, you won't regret it!
Peace and lots and lots of love!

Oh. P.S. Here's a little inspiration for my kitchen. :)
CLICK you know you want to. ;)

Love your new dress/tunic from Laura, looks absolutely adorable on you! And I AM jealous of those hairpins, I have loved those for a while, they look cute on you!
So glad you had a wonderful birthday, you are a very deserving mama! And I agree 110% with you on being yourself leads to happiness. I discovered this a few years ago and have found the most wonderful freedom :)

Thanks!
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and daughter already in my life!
When moving from California to Louisiana I have "found" myself and exactly who I want to be. I am a hippie and am a-ok with that. I am not afraid to just be me anymore and some people just don't get that and you know what, I am me, you are you, we're different and that is what makes us beautiful! So BRING it! hehe It's the best place to "reinvent" myself since I don't have to fight for my place in CA when you are already in that circle of friends. Okay sorry I'll stop rambling. I just couldn't be happier right now to finally know just who exactly I am. :)

Hannah you are too funny!
Laura, Thank you so much! That means so much to me! Sometimes I feel I am the annoying young girl to others. So it's great to hear that is not the case. :)
